This past Christmas, perhaps we were reminded once again of the angel's words to Mary
when she wondered how she was going to play her part in the birth of the Savior of the world, even though she was still sexually pure: "With God, nothing... is impossible!" And so she simply trusted that God would remain faithful to her (and the world), and would do as He said.
So it is now, that I find incredible comfort, strength, and encouragement in those same words of a God and His promise. Even though I could have never ever dreamed of starting a brand new church here in Saint Clair, let alone do it, this is precisely what I am overjoyed to announce to you now.
God is using me and several other key people to start "Fishers Community Church" in early 2014. Planning is already underway for our first worship services to take place on Easter Sunday of this year. We've been meeting regularly for Bible Study in my home for the
last few months, waiting for God to let us know when the time is right. And that time is now.
We are pleased to invite you to look over our new website - www.fisherssaintclair.org . Check it out and see what we're up to and what God is doing through us in a new and exciting way here in the Saint Clair area.
Please don't ever forget: "with God, nothing is impossible!" (Luke 1:37)
Happy New Years, my dear friends in Christ! As I was reflecting this morning on the blessings before us this year, I found this quote by Dietrich Bonhoeffer, one of my favorite authors, as he sent out a letter to his closest friends for New Year's Day, as he remained in a German prison in WW II. He was making a point that faith and religion and making a difference in the world is up to us "every... man (and woman)" folks, as we daily live out our lives in Christ - truly as His.
A Reckoning made at the New Year 1943- We have been silent witnesses of evil deeds: we have been drenched by many storms; we have learnt the arts of equivocation and pretence; experience has made us suspicious of others and kept us from being truthful and open; intolerable conflicts have worn us down and even made us cynical. Are we still of any use? What we shall need is not geniuses, or cynics, or misanthropes, or clever tacticians, but plain, honest, straightforward men. Will our inward power of resistance be strong enough, and our honesty with ourselves remoreseless enough, for us to find our way back to simplicity and straightforwardness?
