Sermon Series: September 20 - October 10, 2015
Many of Jesus’ teachings are quite easy to read and accept. We like hearing of Jesus’ healing miracles and the raising of the dead. Similarly, love the stories of Jesus providing food to the multitudes. All because He loved these people (and most times saw their hearts of faith).
But what about some (most) of His other teachings? We hear them, but do we really listen to them and take them to heart? This begs the question, who has our heart’s allegiance? God or someone or something else? When Jesus gives us what seems to be a rather difficult teaching to keep, what do we do with it? Smile and disregard it? Assume it applies to “the other guy”? Or be honest with ourselves and with God and submit to Him and take it to heart?
Let’s take a look at some of these teachings in the next four weeks here at FCC: “Love Your Neighbor”; “It is Easier for a Camel… (the love of money)”; “If Your Eye Causes You to Sin, Gouge it Out”; and “Take Up Your Cross”. May the Spirit of God open our hearts to what He has to say to us and what we need to hear!
